Aral Sea & Moynaq
A seabed turned desert, the ship cemetery and the Ustyurt cliffs.
Moynaq was a port town once — today the water is 150 kilometres away. The rusting ships left in the sand are a monument to the greatest ecological disaster of the 20th century. The Ustyurt cliffs and a night under the desert sky make this the trip's most powerful stretch.
